Lady Ann Montgomery

We spent the evening with our neighbors! It's been almost two years since we moved here and as we're out walking we've met quite a few people who live on this side of town. Last night we met even more as we gathered for a progressive dinner party.
We started with appetizers and conversation and the big reveal of Dave and Ann's new kitchen. They started with a basic remodel but ended up with new floor joists and wall studs and everything in between. We remember walking by and seeing nothing left but a roof connecting their main house and the barn! The result is a beautiful family style kitchen with a raised fireplace that is just perfect for entertaining.
From there we all (about a dozen of us) went to the next (and final) stop where we got to talk a bit before a potluck buffet of delicious entrees and salads before indulging in dessert. After dinner we had coffee, lightened with a little Bailey's, definitely a treat!
This was a great way to gather the newcomers (ourselves and the family next door to us who moved here only a few months before we did). We learned a lot about the history of our community (two couples have lived here for about 30 years and one couple's parents lived here forever) and heard some fun stories of when they were younger and raising their children. We had a lot of fun making new friends and came home feeling more connected to our neighborhood. There's already talk of a summer block party!
Lady Ann Montgomery is one of our favorite tunes, and is a nickname for one of our neighbors (well, Lady Ann anyway). This tune can be found in the Portland Collection.
